Feature Speaker for TTATE Conference – Dr. Laurette Bristol

Dr Laurette Bristol is the Director- Academic Services at the UWI School of Business and Applied Studies (UWI-ROYTEC). She has held the position since July 2016. Prior to this appointment Dr Bristol held research and administrative appointments in Australia and Jamaica respectively. As a primary school trained teacher, Dr Bristol is passionate about education. She consistently works to ensure that her research speaks to the development of educational delivery, the improvement of student outcomes and the agentic capacity of teachers in efforts around school transformation. Her published empirical projects employ practice theory and postcolonial perspectives to explore the practices of school leadership, mentoring, and professional development. As the founding member of the Caribbean Educators Research Initiative (CURVE), a peer mentoring network of five female Caribbean academics, she promotes the value of research for the Caribbean from the Caribbean and as such, consistently works to mentor emerging academics at all levels, promoting education as a critically- cultural, scholarly engagement.
