Roland Sealy

Roland Sealy is an instructor of pre-service teachers in literacy at the undergraduate level and pedagogical principles at the post-graduate level. He taught at the secondary level for 12 years where he recognized the dire literacy issues facing many adolescents.

He holds a Bachelors degree in History from Andrews University, a Masters of Education in Reading from the University of the West Indies, a Post Graduate Diploma in Education in the teaching of Social Studies also from the University of the West Indies. He is currently pursuing doctoral studies in Education with special focus on classroom transformation, teacher efficacy and social and emotional learning in the classroom.

He has conducted professional development sessions with secondary school teachers, deans, principals and vice-principals of the St. George East Educational district in Trinidad and served as a member of the literacy improvement team of the same district. He is also a member of the International Literacy Association. His areas of interest and research are Reading and the Brain and Professional Development in Literacy Strategies and Teacher Effectiveness.
